Freezer-burritos are a great way to enjoy a healthy, low-calorie meal in a hurry. For example, my husband and I often enjoy a frozen burrito when we get home late from work at night. It’s easy to make, and you can make it with ingredients that will last as long as possible. In this article, I will show you how to make freezer-burritos using a mixture of tortilla wraps (I prefer the fat free variety), cheese, and a variety of tasty toppings. In addition, I will explain why you should use your freezer to store your burritos and other frozen food.

Hello! My name is Korinne and I’m a full-time blogger.  I have been blogging for over 3 years, and my blog is growing at a rapid pace.  You may have seen my recipe posts on my blog called “Low-Calorie & Cheap Freezer Burritos Recipe.”  But today, I am going to share with you the recipe for my “Low-Calorie & Cheap Freezer Burritos Recipe.”  I have been making these burritos for the past 4 years, and my family and I love them.  They’re filling, and healthy.  I will be sharing this recipe for the rest of time.  Enjoy!

Frozen burritos are a healthy and inexpensive dinner option, but when you make them at home, you know exactly what is in them. That makes them just as healthy as their takeout cousins. And because they’re not made with all the unhealthy ingredients of restaurant burritos, they’re also cheaper to make. The recipe below uses ground turkey, which is much lower in fat than beef or chicken, making for a meal that’s lean, protein-rich, and filling.

I’ve been making these cheap frozen burritos for over a year now and I still like them! But you know what? They are actually slightly more expensive than the ones you can buy in the store. Although these economy burritos only cost about $1.14, you can buy other burritos for about 50 cents. But my homemade frozen burritos taste better, you know exactly what healthy ingredients are in them, and they only have 192 calories!   word-image-223 word-image-224

Frozen burritos

I like to make a big batch of these burritos so I can freeze them every few months or so. My favorite is the beef and bean burrito.   word-image-225 word-image-226 They are also on my monthly shopping list, where I only have to spend $200 for two! You can easily make your own frozen burritos to take to work and save money on lunch. They are delicious on their own or with sour cream and sriracha. Once you get the hang of it, you can add other ingredients such as rice, corn, etc. Of course, you can make these burritos even cheaper by buying less lean beef, but that means more calories. Canned products are also cheaper if you don’t buy organic. How long will these burritos keep in the refrigerator? I honestly have no idea. They are so delicious they haven’t even lived in my house for 2 months. However, you can put them in a freezer bag if you want to keep them longer.   word-image-227 word-image-228

Allocation of costs

Your specific costs may vary depending on location, brands and price changes. That ground beef, for example, used to cost me about a dollar less! 32 servings ($1.14 per serving)

  • 1 pound 96% lean ground beef = $5.88 x 2
  • Mission Carb Balance Whole Wheat Burrito = $4.94 x 4
  • 14 oz organic black beans = $0.92 x 2
  • 14 oz of organic pinto beans = $0.92
  • 6 ounces organic tomato paste = $0.72 x 2
  • 1 sweet onion = 0,88
  • Total = 36,60

Calorie distribution:

The calorie content depends on the food used. If you use 85% lean ground beef instead of 96% lean ground beef, the calorie count for each burrito increases to 217.50 calories.

  • 2 pounds of 96% lean ground beef = 1120 calories (140 per serving).
  • 3 cans of beans = 1155 calories (385 per can)
  • 2 cans of tomato paste = 300 calories (150 per can)
  • 331 g onions = 105 calories (32 calories per 100 g)
  • Total= 2640 calories
  • Divided by 32 burritos = 82.5 calories + 110 tortillas = 192.5 calories per burrito

  • 2 pounds of ground beef
  • 4 packets Mission Carb Balance Whole Wheat Burrito
  • 2 – 14 on ers of black biological har 2
  • 14 Unzen Bio-Pinto-Bohnen
  • 2 – 6 Unzen Bio-Tomato Mark
  • 1 sweet onion

    1. Put 2 pounds of beef in a pan with about 2 cups of water. Turn the heat to low and continue to mash the pieces with the potato masher until the beef is cooked. (If you stop too soon, they may turn into pieces!) When cooked, drain off the excess fat.
    2. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic, cumin, chili powder and cayenne pepper. (Cumin and chili powder are the main ingredients). I like spicy food, so I add lots of black pepper, cayenne, and ground red pepper.
    3. Add a cup of water, then stir in the tomato paste.
    4. Mix the diced onions and the drained beans.
    5. Cook for 30 minutes, then allow mixture to cool.
    6. After cooling, weigh by transferring to another pan or large bowl on a kitchen scale. Take this weight and divide by 32 to determine how much to put in each burrito.
    7. How to fold a burrito: Put the filling on the bottom half of the tortilla. Fold the bottom of the tortilla over the filling. Fold the pages down. Roll the burrito around it tightly.
    8. To freeze, wrap burritos in parchment paper or plastic wrap. Mask with painter’s tape and label as needed.
    9. To reheat : Remove the wrapper from the burrito and microwave for 1 to 2 minutes. Turn the burrito over halfway through the cooking time.

Next time I make these delicious burritos, I’ll add more pictures, but for now, I hope this helps!   word-image-229 word-image-230 If you’ve ever wanted beef as fine as Taco Bell, now you know how! All you need is a potato masher. Continue with the mashed potatoes while you cook the beef in the water over low heat!   word-image-231 word-image-232 The beef and bean burrito filling is incredibly delicious! Keep tasting and adjusting the spices as you cook. If you add salt, do so in small batches. Wait until it boils, then stir and taste before adding more.   word-image-233 word-image-234 Once cooled, the liquid will solidify a bit and you can easily put the filling on the tortillas.Since each of us is unique in how we eat and what we like to eat, a lot of people have asked me how to lose weight and keep it off. Is 900 calories a day healthy?

The biggest problem with fad diets is that you never really know if they’ll work for you. Many of the fad diets out there are very restrictive, so you’re likely to be lacking in essential nutrients. That’s not to mention the potential harm to your body. One way of finding a diet that can be healthy is to find out what your body needs. That’s what the low-calorie diet of 900 calories a day is based on. 1200 calories a day is a lot of calories. If you are trying to lose weight, most experts agree that you should consume around 1000 calories a day. That said, just because you have a 1500 calorie diet doesn’t mean you have to be hungry all the time. If you are trying to lose weight, you should strive to cut calories by 1000-1500 a day but for most adults, it is hard to know exactly how many calories you should be eating.

Is 1200 calories a day too low?

There are a lot of people that need to cut back on calories but don’t want to cut back on the quality of food they eat. I know I do, since I have to eat 1200 calories a day to maintain my weight. At the same time, as a college student, I really don’t want to spend any more money than I already have. But, one of the things I do on a regular basis is go to the grocery store and buy a bag of frozen burritos. You’ve heard it before: a 1200 calorie diet is too low. But like so many other weight loss concepts, it’s not really that cut-and-dried. The 1200 calorie diet is a measurement of a person’s total daily caloric intake, and is often used to determine if someone has lost weight—but it’s not a measurement of a person’s daily caloric intake specifically for fat loss. A 1200 calorie diet is just a baseline, and is used to calculate a person’s caloric intake when they are at rest, gaining or losing weight. It’s also helpful for determining how much protein, carbs and fat a person needs at specific times, such as when pregnant, while breastfeeding, or while trying to lose weight.
